Project goal:
The project is entirely devoted to improving environmental safety and strengthening the capacity of the healthcare systems of local communities in seven regions of Kyrgyzstan to adapt to and mitigate the consequences of climate change. Its main goal is to ensure the resilience of public health and ecosystems by conducting a communication and information campaign focused on the use of renewable energy sources, biodiversity conservation, land greening, and the development of local strategies and plans to reduce climate-related health risks for the population.
Main steps and activities:
1. Communication campaign: the project organizes an extensive communication campaign, including the development of information materials, posters, brochures, and advertising campaigns. These materials are aimed at educating and informing the public about the impact of climate change on health and ways to adapt.
2. Raising awareness: the project holds information seminars, trainings, and webinars for medical personnel, local leaders, and the public to increase their understanding of the connection between climate change and health.
3. Use of renewable energy sources: the project encourages the transition to renewable energy sources, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, which in turn has a positive effect on public health.
4. Biodiversity conservation and greening: the project supports activities to preserve local flora and fauna, as well as greening urban and suburban areas, which helps improve the ecological environment and public health.
5. Development of local strategies: as part of the project, local strategies and climate-change adaptation plans for the healthcare system are developed and implemented. These strategies include measures to reduce risks and manage emergencies related to climate change.
6. Monitoring and evaluation: the project introduces a monitoring system to assess the impact of the activities carried out on public health and the environment, in order to regularly analyze results and adjust further actions.
This project is important for strengthening the health of local communities and reducing their vulnerability to climate challenges. Through training, information, and the implementation of practical measures, it helps preserve biodiversity, reduce risks, and strengthen environmental safety in the Kyrgyzstan region.
