The goal of this project was to conduct a study of the Kara-Koo territory, which is part of the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Reserve in Kyrgyzstan. The project was aimed at expanding the capacity of the network of protected areas within this biosphere reserve.
The project’s main objectives included:
Conducting a study of the Kara-Koo territory to examine its natural features, biodiversity, and environmental aspects.
Assessing Kara-Koo’s potential for inclusion in the network of protected natural areas, in particular within the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Reserve.
Conducting scientific research, data analysis, and preparing recommendations for the management and protection of the Kara-Koo territory.
Ensuring interaction with the local population and stakeholders to support and develop the network of protected areas.
Preparing reports and information materials aimed at informing the public and authorities about the results of the research and proposals for managing the Kara-Koo territory.
This project was important for expanding the network of protected natural areas in Kyrgyzstan, particularly within the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Reserve, and contributed to more effective management and protection of biodiversity in this territory.
