Piloting the "School Day" Approach During the Practical Training of Pedagogical Institute Students and Developing Master's Program Teaching Materials

Project «Piloting the ‘School Day’ Approach and Developing Teaching Materials for Master’s Programs (2014)»

Introduction: The project «Piloting the ‘School Day’ Approach» was implemented in 2014 in Kyrgyzstan to pilot-test this approach during the teaching practicum of students at the country’s pedagogical institutes, including Arabaev Kyrgyz State University, Naryn State University, and Osh State University. The project also included reviewing and revising standards for physical education and wellness education focused on graduate competencies, as well as developing teaching materials for master’s programs.

Main project goals: The project’s main goals were:
Piloting the «School Day» approach: to pilot-test the «School Day» approach during the teaching practicum of pedagogical-institute students to assess its effectiveness and applicability in the teaching process.
Revising physical education and wellness standards: to review and revise existing physical education and wellness standards taking into account the principles of competency, sustainable development, and life safety.
Developing teaching materials for master’s programs: to create teaching materials for master’s students that reflect modern educational requirements and competency-based learning principles.

Project activities: The project included the following key activities:
Pilot testing of the «School Day» approach: students of pedagogical institutes took part in piloting the «School Day» approach as part of their teaching practicum. This approach involved changing the organization of the educational process, focusing on certain school days to increase its effectiveness.
Revision of physical education and wellness standards: the project analyzed existing physical education and wellness standards and took steps to revise them to reflect a competency-based approach and the principles of sustainable development.
Development of teaching materials for master’s programs: teaching materials were developed for master’s students, reflecting the latest methods and approaches in education, as well as competency-based learning principles.

Conclusion: The project «Piloting the ‘School Day’ Approach» and the development of teaching materials for master’s programs were aimed at modernizing educational practices in Kyrgyzstan and adapting them to modern standards and requirements. These efforts helped improve the quality of student teacher training and prepare personnel ready for modern challenges in education and sports.
