Project "Eco-School - 21st Century"

In 2001, with support from the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan, the project «Eco-School — 21st Century» was launched, aimed at raising awareness among and engaging schoolchildren in environmental issues, especially in the context of the urban environment. The project’s main goals were to educate and motivate students to actively participate in improving the ecology of their cities and caring for nature.

As part of the project, 10 environmental campaigns were held, focused on greening school grounds and park areas. These events not only helped improve the urban environment but also served as educational platforms for schoolchildren. Trainings and lessons were also held in 15 schools in the cities of Bishkek, Kant, Tokmok, and Shopokov, including schools with instruction in the Kyrgyz language.

The project «Eco-School — 21st Century» helped foster environmental awareness among the younger generation, allowing them to recognize the importance of caring for nature and to participate in preserving the environment in their cities and schools.
