Project 'Environmental Safety for Women and Children'

The project «Environmental Safety for Women and Children,» implemented in 2012, was an outstanding effort to strengthen environmental safety, aimed at protecting the vital interests of the individual, society and the state from potential or real threats associated with anthropogenic and man-made impacts on nature, as well as natural disasters and catastrophes.

The project was launched in response to the need to raise the issue of environmental safety in society and in the media. It took the form of an information campaign that sought to draw society’s attention to growing environmental threats and to encourage action to ensure environmental safety.

Organizers and participants of the seminar «Environmental Safety for Women and Children,» held with support from Act Central Asia, UKAID, and the Environmental Movement «BIOM,» gathered in Bishkek in April 2012. The seminar featured presentations and discussions on the urgent need to ensure environmental safety for women and children.

The project’s main goal was to raise the awareness and preparedness of vulnerable groups, including women and children, in the face of environmental risks and threats to their health and well-being. The project included research on the environmental safety of household goods and food products, the development of information materials such as the publication «Environmental Safety for Parents and Social Institution Staff,» and the creation of thematic posters, including «Drinking Water and Sanitation» and «Food Safety.»

The project also supported meetings with stakeholders and provided recommendations for improving the environmental safety situation. The project «Environmental Safety for Women and Children» underscored the importance of attention to environmental issues and the need for action to protect our planet and future generations from environmental threats.
