Waste Into Income

The project «Waste into Income,» implemented in 1999, was a joint effort of the Environmental Movement «BIOM,» the Institute of Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Institute of Automation. The project’s goal was to research and develop methods for processing waste to produce biogas, as well as to conduct educational events in this field.

As part of the project, a biogas plant was created for producing biogas from organic waste. This technology had the potential to convert biodegradable materials into a useful energy source, such as biogas. This was an important step toward the sustainable use of resources and reducing negative environmental impact.

In addition, the project held seminars and training events on biogas production and vermiculture (the process of decomposing organic materials with worms to create organic fertilizer). These events facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experience in sustainable technologies and effective waste processing.

The project «Waste into Income» is a good example of efforts to find innovative approaches to waste management and to create opportunities for using waste as a resource, contributing to more sustainable and environmentally friendly development.
