BIOM Ecological Movement
– a public non-profit organization founded in 1993, bringing together young professionals, scientists, and leaders on a voluntary basis who work to address environmental problems in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Central Asian region.

Achieving sustainable, positive changes in the quality of the environment and people’s lives by engaging broad segments of the population in implementing the ideas of Sustainable Development and preserving natural ecosystems.
BIOM’s Position
As citizens of the 21st century, aware of the reality of the ecological crisis, we are ready to take active steps toward achieving a harmonious interaction between humanity and nature. As young scientists, we are convinced that natural ecosystems are the foundation for the existence and development of civilization and all life on the planet. We recognize that achieving Sustainable Development is only possible through the implementation of an ecosystem-based approach. As citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, we believe that addressing environmental issues cannot be effective without the broad involvement of various public groups.
Our organization’s sustainability is supported by numerous factors and initiatives that we actively promote and carry out. One of the key components of our work is the Ecological Discussion Club. It consists of regular meetings where we bring together figures from science and culture, representatives of government institutions, and civil society organizations to discuss pressing environmental issues and questions related to the development of the ecological paradigm. These discussions play an important role in shaping ecological awareness and drawing public attention to current environmental issues.
We also actively organize and run environmental campaigns and actions. Our goal is to draw public attention to the most pressing environmental problems and inspire people to take part in solving them. We believe that small actions can lead to big changes, which is why we consider it important to work actively at the local level, engaging local communities in our socio-ecological activities.
Our organization is also dedicated to creating and distributing publications, including brochures, bulletins, posters, guides, and books. These materials serve as a means of spreading our ideas within the territorial and professional communities of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia. We are convinced that knowledge and awareness play an important role in shaping positive change in the field of ecology.
Our activities are guided by several core principles.
Programmatic approach — we strive to implement long-term programs aimed at systemic change within communities, which allows us to achieve sustainable results.
We also maintain a systemic approach to our work, building a system of varied actions aimed at one of our target social groups.
Working at the local level: while maintaining an understanding of political processes at the global level, we direct our efforts toward involving local communities in socio-ecological activities.
Expert support: BIOM’s programs are strengthened by involving a wide range of scientists, specialists, and experts in research, analytical, and educational projects, using new information technologies, and building targeted contacts with research and information centers and international organizations. This allows us to stay up to date with the latest scientific and environmental developments and apply them effectively in our work.
In addition to the initiatives mentioned above, it is also important for our organization to maintain and develop partnerships with other environmental organizations and institutions, both nationally and internationally. We believe in the power of joint efforts and the exchange of experience, which contributes to more effective solutions to environmental problems and strengthens our ecological network.
We also adhere to transparency and openness in our activities. We actively engage with society, provide information about our projects and initiatives, and invite citizens and interested parties to join our events and ideas. We believe that public participation and support play an important role in achieving environmental goals.
Our organization also monitors changes in environmental legislation and policy and actively participates in advocacy to help create more favorable conditions for solving environmental problems.
Overall, we pay attention to every aspect of our work, striving to create a sustainable platform for the growth and development of ecological awareness and practical change.
