In 2003, the project “Seminar on Deep Ecology” was held with support from the Green Grants Fund. The project’s main goal was to build the capacity of teachers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Kyrgyzstan in environmental education and to introduce Deep Ecology approaches into educational programs and environmental outreach work.
The Deep Ecology Seminar was aimed at training teachers and NGO representatives in the principles and methods of this environmental approach. Deep Ecology is a philosophy and practice that emphasizes the deep interconnection between all forms of life and calls for a deeper understanding of ecosystems and a more responsible attitude toward the environment.
As part of the project, seminar participants learned to assess environmental problems from the perspective of Deep Ecology and to develop educational and outreach methods based on this approach. They also discussed issues of environmental ethics, the importance of preserving biodiversity, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The seminar helped create an educational environment that fosters a deeper understanding of environmental issues among students and greater motivation for environmental protection. Such initiatives play an important role in developing environmental education and promoting the sustainable development of society.
