The Papan Reservoir is one of the most beautiful man-made sites in southern Kyrgyzstan. The reservoir is located in the Kara-Suu district of Osh region, 20 kilometers south of Osh. It was built in the 1980s to regulate the flow of the Ak-Buura River for irrigating fields in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
