The consultations began in the city of Osh with women leaders, women deputies, and staff of the ayil okmotu from the pilot communities.
These meetings are a step towards forming a network of women leaders on climate and water security –
“Peace Spring – Women’s Union for Climate and Water Security”
Today, representatives from three ayil okmotu in the Osh region joined the process. The meetings discuss the real challenges facing communities: access to water, resource management, women’s participation in decision-making, and the role of cooperation in preventing local conflicts.
The formation of such a network is not about a formal structure but about creating a space for exchanging experiences, mutual support, and joint problem-solving at the local level.
At the same time, similar meetings will take place in the Batken and Jalal-Abad regions (Manas), expanding the dialogue and involving more women in sustainable development and peacebuilding processes.
These meetings are being implemented as part of the project “Women of the Fergana Valley at the Forefront of Climate Change Resilience, Adaptation, and Peace,” with support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund, implemented by the UN Development Programme in partnership with the Public Association “Ecological Movement ‘BIOM’.”
