Members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from Eastern Europe and Central Asia held a regional meeting dedicated to the further development of cooperation among IUCN member organizations, council members, and the IUCN ECARO regional office.
Participants discussed the outcomes of the IUCN World Congress and their significance for the region. Newly elected council members presented their vision for future work and approaches to strengthening representation, coordination, and joint impact at the regional level.
During the meeting, the results of the activities of the IUCN ECARO regional office in the intersessional period 2021-2025 were also reviewed, along with the main priorities of the IUCN Program for 2026-2029.
Particular attention was paid to the One Union approach, which implies closer interaction among various IUCN structures and the consolidation of efforts by the organization’s members, commissions, council, and secretariat to achieve common conservation goals.
The meeting confirmed the participants’ interest in open dialogue, mutual responsibility, and strengthening regional cooperation in nature conservation and sustainable development.
