From 11 to 15 July the inception workshop of the project “Monitoring for Justice — strengthening civil society in promoting human rights in Kyrgyzstan” will be held in Bishkek.

The project is funded by the European Union European Union in Kyrgyzstan and implemented by a consortium led by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation the Konrad Adenauer Foundation together with the Ecological Movement “BIOM”, the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law Max Planck Society and the Association of Rural Women “Alga”.

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the role of civil society in monitoring and advocating for legal reforms and the protection of human rights in Kyrgyzstan. The project’s activities are aimed at implementing three main components:

— Raising legal awareness and expanding the capacity of civil society networks to monitor judicial reforms aimed at protecting human rights.

— Creating a digital solution and platform for cooperation between civil society and state bodies, promoting transparency and accountability and monitoring the justice sector.

— Supporting civil society organisations in helping to improve the quality of legal acts and to ensure that international human rights principles are incorporated into the legislation of Kyrgyzstan.
