Meeting with deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan within the "Stockholm+50" process.

On 22 April, Earth Day, a meeting with deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan was held within the «Stockholm+50» process. Thanks to the joint initiative of UNDP and the «Jashyl Klimat» project, with the support of the European Union, young people — represented by Kunduz Adylbekova and Zhamilya Suranaeva (the Jashyl Muun youth initiative) — voiced their civic position on the environmental agenda. They raised the need to adopt a law on the protection of green spaces in populated areas and to ban the hunting of Red Book species, which aroused great interest among the deputies of Parliament. The next steps of cooperation in a Youth–Parliamentarians format were outlined. In addition, on behalf of the «Jashyl Klimat» project the parliamentarians were given an information package on environmental safety, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and climate change. We believe that these are the first steps towards a broad and fruitful cooperation.
