On 16 November the Ecological Movement “BIOM” and the EU project “Jashyl Klimat” organised a consultative meeting on the methodology of greenhouse gas inventories for staff of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The guest speaker was Oksana Lipka, an author of the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and deputy head of the department for studying the interaction of the atmosphere and terrestrial natural systems at the Yu. A. Izrael Institute of Global Climate and Ecology.
Oksana Lipka presented to the participants of the consultative meeting the methodological guidelines “Calculating greenhouse gas emissions and preparing reporting for the countries of Central Asia (taking into account the Paris Agreement)”. The expert noted that the manual was prepared within a project of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

Bermet Kanimetova, representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed her thanks for the organisation of such meetings, noting the contribution of the Ecological Movement “BIOM” and the “Jashyl Klimat” project to preparing the delegation from Kyrgyzstan for COP26.
The Ministry staff also expressed their interest in the Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Europe and Central Asia. It is worth noting that Professor Emil Djaparovich Shukurov and experts of the Ecological Movement “BIOM” took part in its preparation.
