Representatives of the BIOM Ecological Movement (Kyrgyzstan) have been included in the list of authors of the International Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Europe and Central Asia (IPBES).
The International Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Europe and Central Asia has been officially published, the result of more than two years of work under the initiative of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
The IPBES assessment is a critical evaluation of the state of knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services and is based on existing peer-reviewed literature, lesser-known literature and other knowledge systems.
The assessment process includes analysis, synthesis and critical discussion of information by experts, and the presentation of such findings to governments and relevant stakeholders upon request. The assessment covers terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine biodiversity and ecosystem services.
BIOM representatives Vladimir Korotenko, Alexey Kurokhtin and our dear teacher Emil Dzhaparovich Shukurov are among the authors of this report, specifically CHAPTER 3 “STATUS, TRENDS AND FUTURE DYNAMICS OF BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS UNDERPINNING NATURE’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEOPLE”
