Biotic foundations of climate regulation

The climate around us is changing hour by hour, water scarcity is increasingly felt around the world, and demand for forest resources is growing. In today’s environment, it is important to understand the fundamental relationships between forests, water and climate.
Forests purify water and are important for ensuring water availability and global cooling at the watershed, regional and continental levels.
Forests perform 5 critically important processes that lead to short-term and long-term benefits for water availability and climate:
1. Forests promote precipitation.
2. Trees and forests are natural cooling systems.
3. Forests generate air and moisture flows.
4. Trees and forests can improve the replenishment of groundwater reserves.
5. Forests can regulate the destructive force of floods.
