In 1999, with the participation of the environmental organization “BIOM,” an important event was held as part of the German-Central Asian Forum titled “The Young Generation and the Challenges of Shaping Environmental Awareness.” The forum was supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and brought together youth groups from three countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
The forum’s goal was to discuss a common strategy for shaping environmental awareness among young people in the Central Asian region. Key issues related to ecology and nature conservation were addressed at the event, and recommendations for further steps in this direction were developed.
“BIOM” made a significant contribution to organizing the forum and ensured the successful interaction of youth groups from different countries. In addition, the organization actively cooperated with the media, which helped ensure wide coverage of the forum’s work and the importance of environmental and nature-conservation issues in the region.
This experience allowed the environmental organization “BIOM” to gain authority among Kyrgyzstan’s environmental NGOs and to acquire valuable experience in public environmental education.
