We are used to living in a linear economy: goods are produced from raw materials, sold in the largest possible quantities, and ultimately thrown away.
But this model no longer works. We now understand that the resources of planet Earth are not infinite. Climate change, the destruction of natural ecosystems and declining biodiversity make it clear that we will have to consciously give up using some natural resources. It is on these principles that the circular economy is built.
From October 11 to 13, the “Akmena” public organization organized a series of circular economy seminars at the “Ecohouse on Bystrotok” demonstration center.
The “Zhashyl Klimat” project was a partner of this event, and members of our team took part in one of the seminars.
Evgenia Postnova, Creative Director of the “Akmena” public organization, spoke about key concepts and a brief history of the concept.
Ken Webster, leading circular economy specialist and consultant to the Club of Rome, noted that the economy is structurally similar to natural systems.
“We do not own the world, we are only part of it. We must change the way we exist on the planet. The circular economy is an innovative platform for redesigning consumption, production and distribution,” emphasized Ken Webster.
