The main problem of the Sary-Chelek Reserve is the village of Arkyt, located within the reserve, which represents the main source of anthropogenic pressure on the reserve's ecosystem in the form of livestock grazing, firewood harvesting, gathering of nuts and berries, and illegal hunting.
